We're excited to announce the newest version of TripIt for iPhone, available now in the iTunes App Store! The improvements in version 1.5 are based on feedback we've gotten from travelers who've logged millions of miles using the app. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas with us. We've worked hard to incorporate the improvements you've suggested.
To begin with, we gave the app a major face lift so you'll have easier access to important trip information. Flight times are larger and clickable, so you can go directly to flight details if needed. We replaced small hyperlinks with big buttons for flight check-in and airport info, and added new navigation that lets you move quickly between different items in your trip. And, maps and directions now load inside the app instead of kicking you over to the Google Maps app.
We've overhauled the way time zones are handled, especially outside the US. (Please note that you may need to refresh your data in the app after upgrading to see the improved time zone logic at work.)
TripIt Pro members will see flight delays and cancellations highlighted in red, bold text, and alternate flights are easier to access when you need a "Plan B." Of course, if you have TripIt Pro you won't see any advertisements in the app, too.
TripIt for iPhone 1.5 is only the first in a series of upgrades we're working on this year. We hope you enjoy it. Keep the feedback coming, and happy travels!
Will Aldrich
Since the update, all my trip items in the iphone app are "undated" and appear in no particular order, at least not chronologically and have no times :(

The updated version seems to be missing some key information about flights - most seriously it no longer shows you the airport terminal, this is one of the most essential items for me after departure time.
It's possible to find it using the "Get Flight Status" button, but this uses an online look-up of the flight number rather than the information already held by TripIt and therefore needs an Internet connection, iTripit needs to be able to show this information offline like it did before!
I don't know if this information is meant to be in the "Airport Info" section, but this button is greyed out for me.

While on the road I upgraded to the new this new iPhone app. Unfortunately, it dropped key information of the trip, such as Ticket Confirmation number. And, as the previous comment says, all the Airport Information sections were grayed out for me. I also found the flight updates were not accurate.

@Ben: if you refresh your data (the circular arrow at bottom left of the app's main screen) the times will correct themselves. of course if there are any other problems, reach out to us via support@tripit.com and we'll look into it further.
@Neil and @Bill: we're following up via support@tripit.com now for more info.
Thanks,
Will

Interesting....
My trips are still displayed in chronological order with dates attached.
And I think perhaps once synced up again post-update, it stores the info such as confirmation number and departure & arrival terminals. I've confirmed that it still displays that terminal info when the iPhone is in airplane mode.
(Yes, the Airport Info button requires a network connection, but wasn't that always the case with that level of info?)

How about Android?

Design looks much better but the missing terminal info is a big downer

Is TripIt for iPad coming?
Posted by: Steve | April 13, 2010 at 10:43 AM
I don't understand removing the terminal info. Why not just remove flight number and times while you're at it? It makes TripIt for the iPhone nearly (but not quite) useless, or at least for a trip like I have tomorrow. I'm connecting through Chicago O'Hare - guess how many terminals they have? So I'll just have to print up my itinerary anyway, in which case, why do I have TripIt?
Baffling choice guys - or did you pull this out to make it a Pro-version only "feature"?

I have also downloaded the latest version and find that the Airport Info, Flight Check-in & Get Flight Status is greyed out! Why is this

Glad to see is critical-to-my-life app is getting attention, even if temporary mistakes are made (e.g. flight detail).
I do dream of a universal aoo that, on the iPad, allows editing of trips.

Expedia TripAssist has a similar but much more useful layout for flights: http://a1.phobos.apple.com/us/r1000/057/Purple/dd/99/25/mzl.vniyimlr.320x480-75.jpg
By displaying the gate right next to the times, I always know where I need to go.
Also, can you PLEASE make it so that I can view details of my trips when first starting the app without waiting to "Check for Updates" every single time! It's maddening to have to wait for a network sync up (typically just as my flight has landed) when I just want to access data TripIt already has locally.

This is off-topic but I was wondering how hard it would be to create a "bill it" service since there's not a single good personal bill tracker app. Don't know how much cross-over you could get from your existing parsing technology but keeping track of bills by sending them to you and then accessing them with an app would be cool.

Can we Android users expect a similar interface update in the near future?

Why are previous trips still on my iphone? do i have to go online to remove them?

Hi Mark,
Try refreshing your data. That should remove the previous trips.
Thanks,

Alternate Flights button appears greyed out on new version - I use that feature often (would really like to be able to pick "earlier flights" not just later too)

Love the new look, but since updating, the arrival times don't take into consideration time zones (app displays the arrival time at the point of origin, not arrival)

I recently had a very bad experience using tripit on my iphone(somewhat stupidly I guess) as my only itinerary for a trip. I didn't change my phone into the new time zone when I got to my destination as it was only two hours difference and I have a local mobile phone with the local time, so I actually missed my flight, as instead of giving me the actual time of the flight, it gave me the time of the flight at my original desitination :( Bad and expensive way to learn, especially as I was travelling with two kids :(

In addition to the above comment, I realise now why the confusion... I've uploaded a new trip and when I am at home, it gives me the time for departure in home country and the time for arrival in trip country even though I am at home, it was only after I departed that it changed the arrival time in the trip country to the actual time in home country... maybe some sort of warning would be helpful :)

I would like to upload pdf-files. So I can attach related documents that I will need on the trip. It is still not possible.

great update. i can't wait to try it on my iphone.

I sent my Hertz reservation to Tripit yesterday 5/19 and it still has not shown up on my iPhone. Your docs indicated that you could process that sort of reservation and now am I mistaken and you can only track airline data.

My TripIt app on my ipod touch is listing all details of my trip as Undated Items. Is this the correct way it is supposed to work or is it a bug?
Posted by: Phil | May 25, 2010 at 06:05 AM
Is there any way to get the Point Tracker available for view on the iphone app itself? I've noticed I only have access to that while at the tripit website. Also, quite a few hours earlier today, i was sent and email from orbitz informing me of updates to the flight departures, however trip it did not update with the new times. I have tripit pro and am wonder why it is not updating... beginning to wonder why i bothered.
