New TripIt Groups helps business travelers connect

We hear from a lot of people about how TripIt's Itinerator, calendar feeds, and mobile apps have streamlined their business travel. Today we're excited to announce the launch of TripIt Groups- a new, free, opt-in service from Tripit that helps business travelers and their colleagues get even more from their travel. 

We started by trying to answer a simple question - where is my team today? - and expanded to help companies answer other common questions like these:

• I’m heading to our Chicago office next week, who else will be there?
• With that big storm, how many people do we have traveling on the East coast today?
• Could we reduce some travel by waiting to meet the next time all our travel plans overlap? 

You can join your company’s group on TripIt and instantly see your colleagues on the company travel map. Please note that you can only join your company's group if you have a valid company email address. 

Groups helps business travelers get more out of their trips, and companies get more out of their travel programs. We're just getting started with groups, and we can't wait to hear how it works for you and your team.

This is nifty! Can you add a way to tag a trip as business or personal? I keep both my business travel and my personal travel in TripIt. It would be nice when looking at a group you can see if someone is traveling on business or pleasure.

Great idea. I'd love to see this expanded to groups that aren't business-related and so that users can create their own groups on the fly without administrative intervention.

I second Mr Peluso. I would love to to see a flyertalk.com and v-flyer.com group. We share itineries already but its a forum manual system - this would be so much more accessible

I would want to hide my personal trips from the rest of my business group, but still allow my tripit contacts to see my personal travel (i.e. I don't necessarily want to make a trip completely private).

I guess I could set up two different tripit accounts to achieve this, but thats not ideal.

I agree with both suggestions, but especially being able to hide trips from my group and keep them visible to my connections.
